Last November 19, 2019, the 1st edition of the Study Journey in Alferrara “The Capuchin Franciscan architecture in debate: spaces, experiences, functionalities” took place. The meeting, organized by João Luís Fontes (NOVA FCSH-IEM; CEHR-UCP), Ana Tomé (IST-UL; CERIS) and Jesse Rafeiro (CU; CIMS), took place at the S. Paulo Convent, in Alferrara (Setúbal) and had the support of the Association of Municipalities of the Setúbal Region.

Taking as a starting point the studies that have been developed by Prof. A. Tomé and Dr. J. Rafeiro for virtual reconstruction and 3D modeling and printing of the Convent of Caparica, with collaboration of Prof. J.L. Fontes, it was intended to provide a space for discussion around the capuchin architecture: the ideas and norms that determine it, its concretizations and radiations, the reading of conventual spaces and their functionalities.
